Jae, Jeong-im

Dean of the Graduate School of Journalism

Jae Jeong-im graduated from Seoul National University with a bachelor's degree in sociology and a Ph.D. in business.
Jae worked as a reporter at the Kyunghyang Shinmun and served as head of the economic policy team at the Kookmin Ilbo.
She has been writing columns for the Kyunghyang Shinmun, the Hankook Ilbo, and the Hankyoreh.
She also has been an economic commentator for KBS and MBC. She hosted 'the Current Affairs Talk Show' on SBSCNBC.
She has served as a member of the Press Arbitration Commission, Internet election news deliberation Commission, and KBS management evaluation commission.
Currently, she is the chairman of the advisory board of the Hankyoreh and the chairman of the committee for receptors' rights at <Yonhap News>.
She has written books such as <The Two Faces of Economic News>, <Economic Reporting Practice>, <Thoughts of Ahn Cheol-soo>, and <Beyond the Punching Bag Economy>.

Shim, Seok-tae

Professor

Shim Seok-tae obtained a B.A. from Seoul National University School of Law, an M.A. from Sogang University, an LL.M. from Indiana University School of Law, and a Ph.D. from Sogang University.
He started his journalistic career as a reporter, and later served as head of legal affairs, head of new media, and head of a newsroom at SBS. He is also a member of the New York State Bar in the U.S., and the Sentencing Commission of Korea.

He received the Investigative Reporting Award held by the Korea Broadcasting Journalist Club, the Best Program of the Year Award from the Korea Broadcasting Commission, and the Chul-woo Press Law Award from the Korean Society for media law. He is the author of >Understanding Media Law> and co-author of <The New Broadcast Journalism>, <Media and the Law>, and <Understanding Public Broadcasting>.

Ahn, Soo-chan

Professor

Ahn Soo-chan obtained a B.A. and M.A. in sociology and a Ph.D. in journalism from Korea University.
He was in charge of the city desk, the investigative desk of the Hankyoreh Daily, and the Chief Editor of the weekly Hankyoreh21.
He also served as a special member of the Korea Communications Standards Commission and a member of the Public Evaluation Committee for the Yonhap News.
He is the author of <Journalist, That Charming Name>, <Beyond the Straight to the Narrative>, <The journalist who got tired of the News>, and co-author of <Topography of Journalism>, <4,000 Won Life>, and <How I Write>.
He is the recipient of the Korean Journalist Award hosted by the Journalists Association of Korea, the Democratic Press Award hosted by the National Union of Media Workers, and the Academic Honor Award from the Korean Society for Journalism and Communication Studies.

Park, Jung-yong

Professor

Park Jung-yong graduated from Sungkyunkwan University with a B.A. in Sociology and an M.A. in Journalism.
While working as a producer at KBS, he directed <The World is Now>, <Sunday Special>, <Documentary 3 Days>, and <Documentary Insight>.
He also produced <Current Affairs Tonight>, <Tracking 60 Minutes>, and <Sunday Diagnosis>.
He has served as an adjunct professor at Seoul National University's Department of Communication and as a jury member for the International Emmy Awards for Documentary in Europe.
He has won the best picture of the KBS Producer Award hosted by KBS, the Broadcasting Program 21 Grand Prize hosted by the Korean Broadcasting Institute, and the Silver Award for Documentary Society and History of the New York Festival, hosted by the International Awards Group, LLC.

Chong Eun-ryung

Professor

Chong Eun-ryung holds a B.A. in Anthropology from Seoul National University, an M.A. in Journalism from Yonsei University, and a Ph.D. in Journalism from the University of Maryland.
She previously worked as a journalist at The Dong-A Ilbo, where she served as Deputy Editor for both the City and Culture desks. She has been awarded the Kwanhun Journalism Award and the Emerging Scholar Award for Outstanding Paper in Media Economics and Culture.
She has also served as a member of the Press Arbitration Commission and has participated in various committees, including the Reflection and Innovation Committee for Channel A, the Journalism Evaluation Committee for TV Chosun, and the Journalism Accountability Committee for The Hankyoreh.
She is the former Director of the SNU FactCheck Center at Seoul National University's Institute of Communication Research and currently serves as a board member of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN). Additionally, she is a member of the International Advisory Committee for the Singapore government’s Center for Advanced Technology in Online Safety (CATOS).
She has co-authored several works, including <Fact-Check Journalism>, <Misinformation and Fact-Check Journalism>, and <Checklist for Field Reporters>.

Lee Gyu-yeon

Professor

Lee Gyu-yeon holds a Ph.D. in Communication and Journalism on Science and Technology from Korea University. He previously worked as a journalist at <JoongAng Ilbo>, where he served as Investigative & Enterprise Editor, City Desk Editor, and Editorial Writer.
He was the inaugural Chief News Director at JTBC, and later served as Director of Investigative Journalism, Head of News, CEO, and Advisor. He is also a Concurrent Professor at the KAIST Graduate School of Future Strategy.
He has received several prestigious awards, including the Special Award from the Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE), the Journalists Association of Korea Award, the Samsung Journalism Award, the Korea Press Award, the Sungkyunkwan Journalism Grand Award, and the Seoul Journalists Club Award.
He is the author of <A Deep Look at the World>, <Korea’s Power Elite>, and <Freedom of Information and Investigative Journalism>.

Kim, Yong-jin

Collaboration Professor

Kim Yong-jin is the CEO of the Newstapa.
He graduated from Pusan National University with a bachelor's degree in business administration and earned an M.A. and Ph.D. in journalism from Dong-A University.
He was a visiting scholar at the University of Missouri School of Journalism and the IRE in the U.S.
He worked as a reporter at KBS, where he served as head of the Investigative Report Team.
He lectured on investigative reports at the Korea Press Foundation and wrote the book <They Know, We Don't>.

Kim, Min-sik

Collaboration Professor

Kim Min-sik graduated from Hanyang University with a B.S. in Resource Engineering and obtained an M.A. in Translation and Interpretation from the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.
He has worked as a producer for MBC, directing shows such as <Exclamation Point>, <Sunday Night on Sunday>, <New Nonstop>, <Queen of Housewife>, and <The Queen's Flower>.
He has won the Baeksang Arts Award for Best New Director and Best Director.
